Packers started 0-1, which is less than ideal. You know what else is less than ideal? Losing the starting QB in the final seconds of the game. That kind of ending makes a game that was merely frustrating take on an entirely new tone. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like Jordan Love will be missing much time. Small miracles, etc.
Alright man. What did I get into this week? Let’s start with some articles.
For Acme Packing Company, I wrote about the Packers passing game. Started off looking at some numbers on the passing game as a whole, gave some thoughts, then dug into a couple really cool plays: a run play (Long Trap with an RPO tag) that set up a nice TE Pop Pass to Kraft. Big fan of this.
For Colts Wire, I did a similar article, taking a look at the passing game, then taking a deeper look at Anthony Richardson’s two TD passes. Including one of the more insane throws I’ve ever seen.
The second one also had some serious heat on it.
Also at Acme Packing Company, I took a look at Edgerrin Cooper’s game against the Eagles. He only played 11 snaps, but he popped on pretty much every single one of them. Really hoping we get to see more of him going forward.
Because I love talking about the passing game, I also wrote about some fun passing concepts we saw from the Packers in Week 1. They didn’t always hit, but this offense did some cool stuff and I just wanted to take a few minutes to dig into some of my favorite plays.
As always, there were some plays I wanted to spent a little more time with, so I dipped into the film room to talk about a couple plays. First up was one of my favorite calls of the day: a designed shot play off a quick-game staple. It didn’t work - mainly because Quinyon Mitchell decided to tackle the receiver instead of getting beat - but it was a really cool call. I talk about that and where LaFleur stole it from.
I also took a deeper look at Jordan Love’s INT and try to figure out exactly what happened.
On the podcast front, I got a chance to talk with Maggie & Perri - two of my favorite people in the world - over at Pack’s What She Said.
I also got to join my friends at Last Call Lambeau to talk about the upcoming Packers/Colts game. I love these people so much.
Lastly, I got to join Ross Uglem for our weekly film review session. I love getting a chance to do this.
It’s possible I’ve got one more article in me this week, but we’ll see. It’s Friday the 13th today and I’m tired.
On the music front, Foxing put out a new album today. While I haven’t fully been able to process it all yet, on first listen I’m a big fan. More aggressive vocally than their last album (Draw Down the Moon), but in a way I dig. I got to see them a few years ago on a bill with Manchester Orchestra and Slothrust and they absolutely tore the roof off.
