The entire goal of these kinds of posts was to make them quick: throw a cut-up in a post, say a couple words and call it good. Apparently I am incapable of doing something that quick and easy, as I just spent the better part of 45 minutes going through a spreadsheet and trying to figure out how best to convey this information, what it all means, blah blah blah.
Let’s get to it.
The Packers had 8 play action calls against the Rams, accounting for 27.6% of their pass game calls. That’s their highest since their 33.3% mark in week 5. As far as production, their 7.3 YPA is their second highest mark of the season, only trailing 8.7 YPA in week 1.
Those are all up significantly from their week 8 performance (4.4% play action calls, 4.8 YPA)
On play action this week, Love was 5/7 for 67 yards, taking 1 sack for 4 yards.
Not the biggest day for the play action game, but it’s certainly a tool I’d like to see them utilizing more than they have been. As the team gets better on the execution front, I would expect to see the numbers sit around this high-20% range in terms of usage.
