Week 1 has already come and gone. As impossible as it seems, Week 2 starts tonight. Tonight! Who saw that coming?
I wrote and created a lot of stuff this week, so I wanted to try to put it all in spot before the next week totally takes over. Call it Shameless Self-Promotion Corner if you’d like.
Anyway, here are some links and stuff.
For Packer Report, I wrote about Double-Dragon/Sluggo, and how motion helped create a favorable match-up for Aaron Jones.
For Cheesehead TV, I wrote about 3 passing plays:
The deep bomb to Watson that opened the game
Shallow cross out of bunch that could have gone for a nice game if protection held up for just a touch longer
The Packers spin on one of their favorite concepts in the LaFleur era: All Go. After seeing defenses adjust and take away the deep options, it seems like they’re tweaking it enough to create more problems for defenses. I liked seeing this one so much that I did a short video on it.
In this space, I ran down some numbers from the Packers RPO game against the Vikings, and did a couple videos highlighting some of the pass and run RPOs that they used.
Speaking of videos, I did a few of those as well.
I spent an hour with @SyedSchemes of The Daily Norseman. He is an incredible football mind with a wide knowledge on both sides of the ball, so I spent that time picking his brain over 9 plays from the Packers/Vikings game. I learned a ton in the process.
I took a look at the Packers running The Cheese Wheel. It’s a concept we saw early in the LaFleur era, but has been on ice as of late. It made me happy to see it again.
Lastly, I kicked of a new series called Stealing Plays, where I find non-Packers plays from the previous week and implore the Packers to incorporate them. I looked at 2 plays this week:
The Bears rolling out a cool Mesh variant to score a TD
The UK Wildcats getting to a Drive out of a tight alignment and a lot of misdirection up front.
It has been a week packed with a ton of fun things to break down. Can’t wait to do it all again next week.
